Fall in the White Mountains

Day 1: Connecticut- Meredith, NH- Indian Head Resort

Our New Hampshire adventure begins with a visit to the charming town of Meredith, voted as one of the “10 best small towns on the East Coast”. Nestled along shimmering Lake Winnipesaukee is the charming Mills Falls Marketplace. Enjoy the beautiful 40 foot waterfall, unique shops and excellent dining options as you wander through the brick walkways.

Mid-afternoon we head to our accommodations for two nights, the Indian Head Resort. Located at the base of the White Mountains and on Shadow Lake, our hotel provides beautiful fall views of the Franconia Ridge Mountains.

A wine, beer and cheese reception, dinner and evening entertainment are included each evening at the hotel. Enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools, paddleboats on Shadow Lake and more. (Dinner included)

Day 2: Kancamagus Highway-North Conway-Mt. Washington

After breakfast at the hotel, our local guide joins us. Our first stop is the White Mountains Visitor Center. Here you will learn the fascinating history of the gilded age of the grand hotels and area wildlife through displays and audio-visual presentations.

Next, we travel along the 34-mile Kancamagus Highway, dedicated as the first of the National Scenic Byways in the Northeastern U.S. We will enjoy one of the best fall foliage viewing areas in the world! Stops will be made along the way for photographs. Next, we arrive in North Conway, voted by USA Today “as among the 10 Best Small Towns in America”. There will be time to explore this historic town and enjoy lunch.

Our travels resume through Crawford Notch past the historic Mt. Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods. The Bretton Woods Scenic Gondola will provide us with breathtaking views of Mt. Washington and the Presidential Range. At the summit, there will be time to take in the panoramic views and enjoy a cup of coffee and snack at Peaks Café or a beverage at the Switchback Bar.

Our last stop will be at Franconia Notch State Park at the Basin where we have the opportunity to view a beautiful waterfall that is just a short 10-minute walk. Returning to our hotel, a wine, beer and cheese reception, dinner, and evening entertainment awaits us. (Breakfast and dinner included)

Day 3: Lake Winnipesaukee - Home

After breakfast we travel south, to the scenic Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Boarding the historic M/S Mt. Washington, we will experience the majesty of Lake Winnipesaukee during a 2.5 hour narrated scenic cruise. Soak in the beautiful fall scenery of the quaint New England towns nestled on the shores while hearing about the region’s rich history. Enjoy lunch and cocktails on your own from the full-service bar and Fantail Grille.

After our cruise we return home with fond memories of our fabulous fall tour to the White Mountains. (Breakfast included)
