We check into the brand-new Towne Place Suites by Marriott in Williston, Vermont for our two-night stay. Later this afternoon we take the short ride to Burlington where we board the Spirit of Ethan Allen. Enjoy beautiful views of Lake Champlain while enjoying a Prime Rib & Lobster dinner, music and sunset views. (Dinner included)
Day 2: Stowe – von Trapp Lodge History Tour
After breakfast we set out for the charming town of Stowe nestled in the tranquil Green Mountains. Our local tour guide takes us on an adventure to explore the beauty, charm and history of this idyllic resort town. After time for lunch in town, we visit the Trapp Family Lodge known for its stunning alpine architecture and mountain views, reminiscent of Austria. Our 1.5-hour History Tour offers a guided look into the von Trapp family's journey from Austria to Stowe that inspired the film, The Sound of Music. You'll get to see family photos, movie posters, and memorabilia, watch 'The Real Maria' documentary, and enjoy a Q&A session with Kristina von Trapp Frame. Later we return to Burlington for an evening at the award- winning Church Street Marketplace, home to over 100 stores, restaurants, and entertainment.
Day 3: Shelburne Museum - Home
Following breakfast, we head to the nearby Shelburne Museum, the largest art and history museum in northern New England. The Museum’s 45-acre campus is comprised of 39 buildings amid 22 beautifully landscaped gardens. Among the most beloved attractions are the Shaker design Round Barn, a General Store, a carousel, and the 220-foot steamboat Ticonderoga. Important American paintings by Andrew Wyeth, Winslow Homer, Grandma Moses, John Singleton Copley and many more are on display. After time for lunch in the Museum’s café, we head home with fond memories of our Vermont summer escape. (Breakfast included)
