Winterthur Museum & Show Tour

Day 1: Connecticut to Winterthur, Delaware

Our day begins as we head to the heart of Delaware’s beautiful Brandywine Valley. We arrive at Winterthur Estate & Garden midday.

The opulent mansion and library offer a magnificent collection of American decorative arts on display through Henry Francis du Pont’s former home. This spectacular DuPont Estate is situated on 1,000 acres of rolling hills, meadows, and woodlands.

Discover the history of Winterthur on the 30 minute narrated Winterthur Garden Tram Tour. The tour begins at the Visitor Center and ends at the museum, with a stop at Enchanted Woods.

Midafternoon we head to our luxurious hotel, The Inn at Mendenhall. A delicious dinner will be included at the hotel before setting out for an exciting evening of entertainment. (Please make meal selections)*

Meredith Wilson’s six time Tony Award winning musical comedy, THE MUSIC MAN will excite you at the historic Playhouse in Rodney Square in downtown Wilmington. There's trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. Enjoy the classic songs this musical is known for—“Seventy-Six Trombones," "Trouble," "'Til There Was You," "Pickalittle" and "Gary, Indiana,"!

Day 2: Longwood Gardens

After a relaxing breakfast we head to nearby Longwood Gardens, considered one of the world’s premier horticultural gardens and awarded one of 100 greatest places in the world!

With over 1,100 acres of gardens and elaborate horticultural displays you will be mesmerized by its beauty. Don’t miss the Festival of Fountains, an open-air theater featuring 750 jets in changing patterns with fountains set to music. After time for lunch and to enjoy the gardens, we return home with fond memories of our stunning weekend!

1. Chicken Saltimbocca - Chicken Breast topped with Prosciutto, Spinach, Roasted Peppers and Smoked Mozzarella with a Marsala Demi Glaze - served with a Chef’s Starch and Vegetable of the day

2. Maple Citrus Salmon - North Atlantic Salmon- Filet marinated and grilled, complemented with an Apricot Scented Basmati Rice and an English Cucumber, Daikon Radish and Blood Orange Relish. Finished with a Fig Balsamic Glaze

3. Rustic Tortellini - Cheese Tortellini with a Sun-dried Tomato Pesto Cream Sauce

Cancellations 50 days or more days ahead receive a full refund. Cancellations 49-30 days ahead will be charged 50% of total tour cost. Cancellations 29 days or less ahead of departure, no refunds.
